Lake Ohrid is considered to be one of the oldest lakes and biotopes in the World. Another worth visiting lake is Lake Mavrovo. It is situated in Mavrovo National Park and is visited by hundreds of tourists each year as a cool swimming and boating spot for the summer. Don’t forget to visit the half-submerged church in the middle of the lake. Mountains in Macedonia range in a variety of different altitudes, many of which rise above 2000m. This makes it perfect to practice sports such as alpinism, paragliding, climbing, hiking, canoeing, skiing in winter and more. If you like archeology, Macedonia is your paradise. Due to its old history and proximity to Greece, you will be able to find archeological sites such as the Aqueduct of Skopje, the ruins of the ancient roman city of Skupi, the Antique Theater and Trebenista’s graves in Ohrid, the ruins of the city of Stobi and Cocev Kamen (Tsote’s stone).
