Miko the Kitty: Palau is an archipelago in the North Pacific Ocean. Located southeast of the Philippines, Palau consists of over 300 islands. With a high diversity of marine species compared to many other areas of similar size on the planet, Palau is home to a wide range of coral and sea cucumber species, fish species and exquisite reefs. Due to this outstanding variety of life, Palau is considered one of the world’s top scuba diving sites.
Palau is also a country rich in culture and traditions with music being one of the most noticeable aspects of Palauan culture. Although Palauan music has its roots in Micronesia (a subregion of Oceania), influences from the United States, Western European music and Japan can also be found. Traditional dances are highly developed and are performed by village groups. Women dances are slow, formal and elegant while men dances typically include war stances and stick dances. Traditional dances can also include colorful chants and clapping as you will see in the following video.
