Miko the Kitty: San Marino is a state in Europe located on the Italian Peninsula on the north-eastern part of the Apennine Mountains. The country is the oldest surviving sovereign state in the world founded by Saint Marinus in 301 CE.
The Historical Center of the City of San Marino, the capital of the country, became part of the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2008. Here tourists can enjoy buildings like the Cathedral of San Marino, the medieval Palazzo Pubblico (Public Palace) which is the city’s Town Hall, the Piazza della Libertà (Liberty Square) with the iconic Statua della Libertà (Statue of Liberty), the State Museum of San Marino with objects from the late Middle Ages, works by local artists, old Sammarinese coins and medals and more, and the enchanting medieval alleyways, shop-lined streets, terraces and small churches which are found all around the city.
The highest mountain in San Marino, Monte Titano (Mount Titan), is located to the east of the City of San Marino. This is another UNESCO World Heritage Site with three peaks on which three famous towers sit. The most well-known of these is the Guaita built in the 11th century. The three towers are a national symbol depicted on both the national flag and coat of arms. Welcome to San Marino: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeOFb6oW6QA
