Hina Doll in traditional court dress
The Hinamatsuri Festival, also called Doll's Day or Girls' Day, is a day for Japanese families to pray for the happiness and healthy development of girls in their households. Celebrated on March 3, it is a day where a set of ornamental dolls are displayed on platforms covered with a red carpet. The dolls represent the Emperor, Empress, attendants and musicians in traditional court dress placed on different levels from top-down.
