Niue is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean which is self-governing, although in free association with New Zealand. On 19 October 1974 the people of Niue voted for a constitution that would grant them independence and self-governance. It is this way that the Niue Constitution Act 1974, i.e. the supreme law of Niue, was born. Nowadays, October 19 is a holiday known as "Constitution Day" to celebrate Niue's independence. On October 19 Munduslingua sets sail for Niue to explore a magnificent corner of the world.
Niue, known for being the first "Wi-Fi nation" offering free wireless internet access throughout the country, is a great tourist destination with countless outdoor activities and sites to explore. In order to get to know the island, all types of experiences are available from walks through the bushes to scuba diving, fishing and four-wheel drive tours. In addition, for people searching to delve into the local culture, tours are available to discover the local customs and admire the flora and fauna.
A great way to enjoy the local flora is to go for a tour around the different plantations. Here you can learn about the natural way of growing root vegetables and explore the different varieties of plants and their traditional uses. Moreover, you can sample some of the local produce. As for walks through the bushes, these are a great opportunity to get sight of Niue's wildlife.
Another important aspect of Niue is its rich geological history. This refers to the various natural limestone caverns, the most spectacular and extensive cave systems in the whole South Pacific. These caverns, famous for their wide range of passageways, fossils and rock formations, were used in the past as burial sites or as a place of refuge by early Polynesian settlers.
Niue is also a perfect place for relaxation. Many places for accommodation offer their own spa where you can get massage treatments and have one of the best rejuvenating experiences. Finally, one should not forget about the ocean. The beaches are among the most spectacular in the world and their waters display an outstanding mixture of caverns, caves and pristine coral reefs to be explored by underwater visitors.

Alaska Day is a holiday celebrated in the U.S. state of Alaska to commemorate the formal transfer of the territory of Alaska from the Russian Empire to the United States on 18 October 1867. The Russian Empire sold the territory of Alaska to the United States for US$7.2 million, or about 2 cents per acre (US$4.74/km2).
The transfer ceremony took place at Fort Sitka (today Castle Hill, Sitka, AK), where 250 uniformed U.S. soldiers marched to the Governor's House on "Castle Hill". Here the Russian troops lowered the Russian flag and instead the U.S. flag was raised for the first time in Alaskan territory. During Alaska Day, Munduslingua explores the city of Sitka, Alaska, its culture, sites and landscapes.
As Alaska's first city, Sitka is a colorful blend of past and present where the indigenous Tlingit people continue to practice and enjoy traditions that are thousands of years old. It is also a place where Russian influences are still present more than a century after the U.S. purchase of Alaska.
The City and Borough of Sitka, once the capital of Russian America, then called New Archangel (Russian: Ново-Архангельск or Новоaрхангельск), is today Alaska's fourth-largest city, one of the top places to enjoy the Alaskan coastline.
Sitka offers many activities for all ages. For some the city offers unique opportunities for fishing and boating. Others find the city's charm in its wildlife and landscapes. As for outdoor sports, ice skating and baseball are common in the area. In addition the Sitka Summer Music Festival brings each year international musicians to play in a magical style. The 2013 Summer Series will be held from June 7 – July 5, 2013.
One of the city's most notable buildings is St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral, a National Historical Landmark since 1962 and a testimony of Russian influence in Sitka. The city is also known for being one of the best places in the world for whale watching where both international visitors and locals gather each year to watch humpback whales.
