Currulao Band in Tumaco, Colombia
Munduslingua introduces you today to the Music of the Pacific coast of Colombia. Deeply influenced by African rhythms, you will enjoy the sound of Colombian marimbas, guasás and drums. A musical voyage not to miss.
The music on the Pacific coast of Colombia preserves the influence of African rhythms. One of the main styles is "Currulao" which is typically played by 4 musicians. Very often the music of the Pacific coast uses the Colombian marimba (a musical instrument in the percussion family with wooden bars that are struck with mallets). Other instruments are the "Guasá" (a wooden shaker filled with seeds or rice) and various drums.

The spectacular Namib Desert
Namibia is a country in southern Africa which borders to the west the Atlantic Ocean. Along its coast a splendid desert stretches that due to its antiquity may be home to more endemic species than any other desert on the planet.
Namib Desert in Namibia may not be as large as the Sahara but it is probably the world's oldest desert. The desert stretches along the coastline of Namibia for more than 2,000 km (1,000 mi) in the Southwest of Africa. The massive sand dunes that are seen in the desert are a consequence of the strong winds that blow from the Atlantic Ocean.
Nowadays hot air balloons carry visitors into this remote desert to experience the magnitude and splendor of the landscape, its evershifting shapes and colors. Some of the major tourist attractions are Sossusvlei, a salt and clay plan surrounded by large dunes, an area known as "Moon Landscape" for its likeness to the Moon's surface, and the famous "Long Wall" which is a magnificent coastal area where one experiences how the ocean meets the desert.
Other wonders are the Welwitschia plant which is considered to be a living fossil and the thick morning fog that rolls in from the Atlantic. Undoubtedly Namib Desert is one the natural wonders of the world.

Guaita, one of three peaks which overlooks the city of San Marino
San Marino, the smallest and oldest sovereign nation in the world, observes the Feast of San Marino and the Republic, a day for celebrating the establishment of the Republic of San Marino in 301 CE.
Munduslingua begins the month of September by exploring one small but rich country in Europe and introduces you to the splendid Monte Titano.
San Marino is a state in Europe located on the Italian Peninsula on the north-eastern part of the Apennine Mountains. The country is the oldest surviving sovereign state in the world founded by Saint Marinus in 301 CE.
The Historical Center of the City of San Marino, the capital of the country, became part of the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2008. Here tourists can enjoy buildings like the Cathedral of San Marino, the medieval Palazzo Pubblico (Public Palace) which is the city's Town Hall, the Piazza della Libertà (Liberty Square) with the iconic Statua della Libertà (Statue of Liberty), the State Museum of San Marino with objects from the late Middle Ages, works by local artists, old Sammarinese coins and medals and more, and the enchanting medieval alleyways, shop-lined streets, terraces and small churches which are found all around the city.
The highest mountain in San Marino, Monte Titano (Mount Titan), is located to the east of the City of San Marino. This is another UNESCO World Heritage Site with three peaks on which three famous towers sit. The most well-known of these is the Guaita built in the 11th century. The three towers are a national symbol depicted on both the national flag and coat of arms. Welcome to San Marino.
